CITY OF MIAMI PROCLAMATION
The City of Miami presented a Proclamation to The Villagers in honor of our work and National Historic Preservation Month.
The proclamation was given on behalf of Miami Mayor Suarez, the City of Miami Commissioners, and the City of Miami’s Historic Preservation Department. Kelley Schild, Villager 1st Vice President, addressed the Commission on behalf of The Villagers, offering the organization’s services and resources to help understand issues and assist with local historic preservation. She explained “the number two reason people travel is to experience history and . . . that Miami-Dade County has a long, rich, and diverse story to tell. Visitors love Vizcaya, The Deering Estate, The Barnacle, and Cape Florida Lighthouse, just to name a few.” The recognition was a result of work by the Saving Places Committee, chaired by Dolly MacIntyre.
CITY OF CORAL GABLES PROCLAMATION
The Villagers also worked to have May declared “National Historic Preservation Month” in Coral Gables by the Gables’ Commission. A good reminder for a city that is known for its iconic historic properties.
